Although this is my personal opinion, I believe this is the exact reason why the commissioners were rushing to vote on the rezones and refused to pause.

While the state was coming up with the new Data center specific DRI guidelines, they paused DRI reviews for Data Centers.

Now the reviews have clear guidelines. Even though the DRIs are for informational purposes, I believe the Commissioners wanted to get the zoning hearings passed before they had no excuse to require them. I think this is because the new DRI guidelines would reveal just how damaging these centers would be and that information couldn’t have been so easily refuted with the false claims of “we have ordinances that protect us all from that” that the commissioners kept repeating (without actually citing them).

Below is some of my correspondence with the organization while investigating the lack of DRI issue that was part of the initial Zoning hearing requirements. The Commissioners have still not responded to my emails.
